Hi, I'm Sarah Chan! A piano teacher, social advocate, and mother of two - Proud to live local in Edmonton, on Treaty 6 land.
Who is Miss Sarah?
A long time ago I was the newest "Miss Chan" to start teaching at a music school, so my students started calling me "Miss Sarah" instead. I was born at the Edmonton General Hospital and raised in Edmonton's west end. I have a MA in Cultural Studies and, a BA with a major in English Literature and minor in Music. These days I split my time running my piano teaching studio; raising my two kids; and, engaging heavily in community building as an avid volunteer and contributor alongside my husband, Mayor Don Iveson.
What Does She Do?
I teach piano and am a musician by trade but, what I also love is connecting with youth from all over Edmonton to talk about our city and its generational challenges; Specifically, where it is related to poverty and inclusion. I jump at every chance to connect with classes, schools, and youth groups both in and out of school hours - To educate and motivate our future leaders about their impact and role in our community. If you would like me to come speak to you or your group, send me a request via the links up above!
